Have you become a victim of meeting overload?

Many of the people I work with complain that they spend too much time in meetings. I’ll share a few steps on how you can reduce the time spent in meetings.

Check your calendar for the next month:

If recurring meetings equal less than 5 hours per week => You are doing OK.

If more than 5 hours per week, consider this:

  1. Can information be shared async? => Cancel meeting
  2. Can someone else attend and decide? => Delegate attendance
  3. Can the agenda be covered faster? => Shorten the meeting
  4. Is there not enough news every time? => Decrease frequency
  5. Is all your time available to be booked by colleagues? => Block recurring slots

There is one monthly 30-minute meeting you should add to your calendar: "Reconsider time spent in meetings and clean up calendar meeting - participants: you"

If you want a second pair of eyes on the whole calendar, not just the meetings, the Whole Human Baseline is where I'd start.

I'd love to hear from you. Tell me where you are, or book time straight into my calendar. If we speak, it's a working session, not a pitch. You'll answer three short questions when you book, so we start from something real.
