Cultivating Winning Habits Among Startup Teams

Winning habits on a team aren't installed through a kickoff meeting. They form through what gets repeated, noticed, and reinforced week over week, mostly by people watching what you actually do rather than what you announced.

If you want a team that ships fast, you have to actually reward the shipped-but-imperfect thing over the polished-but-late thing, consistently, even when it's uncomfortable to let something go out rough. Say one thing and reward the opposite, and the habit that sticks is the one you rewarded.

The other lever is friction. Every habit you want has some barrier in the way, a tool that's clunky, a process with too many steps, an approval that takes too long. Find the friction before asking people to try harder against it.

Habits aren't a mindset problem most of the time. They're a rewards-and-friction problem, and both are things you can actually change.

Leadership Development is where I help founders build teams around habits that actually hold under pressure.
