"Can you make money doing that!?"

I told my dad about a conversation I had with a founder recently. Explaining what the company did and how they made money.

"Can you make money doing that!?" he responded with slight ridicule.

Mind you he has been a business person for 50+ years and seen massive changes in the industries he has been in, so he of all people should get it.

It reminded me of two things:

1) if you do not understand why some new thing can be a profitable business, ask someone much younger than you about it :-)

2) I'm getting old(er), since I can feel there are certain businesses I do not understand/appreciate, at least as quickly as I used to.

What don't you understand? Who will explain it to you?
